Listening to every heart

0 posted 2000-08-09 09:50 PM

A hush
succumbs humbly
over the
passionate, humid ground
and a soundless breeze
threads through
the hills and meadows.
The quietness is beautiful
and still
giving one time to
think of the past,
present
and
tomorrow.

Memories,
movements and
dreams
fill the heart
and mind
with many a
serene
hope.

The darkness grows
and with it,
a silent humbleness.
Lulled solitude
as one realizes one is alone

~ in this world of darkness ~

~ the night ~

Yet,
one is not alone,
as the
breeze strengthens
and whips
the sounds of crickets
chirping
to your ears.

The howling of dogs
as they bay
at the moon
gives one an eerie feeling

and the warm Earth
finally gives
her spirits
its sleep,
the
quietness
turns still,
the coolness
of the dark
heavens
having
fallen
d
o
w
n
ward.

All sleep.

Love it, sunshine. It's really amazing how you can stand out in the quiet and, by tuning in with your surroundings, recognize an entire symphony of sounds you weren't even aware existed a moment before. Very nicely written....

reading your poems
what always follow are
thoughts like these

the quietude

to thrill the
ever so dormant

shadows mark
dark looming
figured
haunting
ghosts
maybe

a restless past

crickets and dogs
friends from
another life
choose to
sing songs of
eternal love

entices
troubled

Karilea~
What an absolutely lovely pen !
So serenely relaxing.

And Sudhir added such depth !

What a double-delight this quiet morning.

in the silence much can be heard
from the sound of heart, to a distant bird
we only need to open our ears
to that which is held dear
and listen to the silence with our hearts. . .

Sunshine. . . listening to this poem. . . I can hear your heart. . . simply wonderful my friend. . .

Sunshine,

I'm a night owl, especially whenever I get the chance to enjoy the darkness outside. You did a fantastic job of capturing the allure and beauty that the night has for me. Thanks for putting it into such beautiful words.
