TODAY
By: Amy M. Kennedy
This is dedicated to someone very special! She knows who she is!

Today I broke free from your chains
And I wiped away the tears
Her love has made me strong
Helped me to erase my fears

So many years ago like a storm
You ripped my life apart
But with time and love
She has helped to mend my broken heart

No longer blinded by shame
I can stand on my two feet
I am no longer parlyzed by what you did
No longer tattered and beat

A smile has replaced the pain
The journey was an uphill climb
Together she and I claimed back
All that was rightfully mine

You stripped away my dignity
Leaving me naked and alone
But she has given me happiness
A heart, love, and a home

Today I broke free from the chains
The demons left buried in the past
And finally I am able to love
And give my heart completely, at long last

"Don't be dismayed at goodbyes. A farewell is before you can meet again. And meeting again after a moment or a lifetime is certain for those who are friends."

"Fate exists but it can only take you so far,
Because once you're there
It's up to you to make it happen."

oh what a poem!!
*Bravo* that you were able to free yourself from those fetters of an ex-love.  I wish the best for you and your new lover, may you grow strong together
