An August Night

The moon was cut in half
with perfect knife
that left the light dimmed
and the water filled with stars.

Across the laughter of a splash
we swept the surface,
a slither of soft beguile was I
dressed in just part of the moon
and covered with pearls.

His eyes were a silk blanket
that moved around me
as he folded with me
into an underwater love dance
of slow drenched grace.

A honeyed longing
for brother otter the moon sang
into my thoughts
and transposed the back yard’s
fenced in parlay,
into an ocean
of dark crystal depth,
a magic mystic changing,

and it felt like home,
with motion more natural
then the clumsy clunking footfall
that is dirt and gravel,
the blacktop of being human.

We were transformed that August night
when the moon was cut in half
with perfect knife
that left the light dimmed
and the water filled with stars

into the liquid grace of we.

Very nice!  I really liked this:

when the moon was cut in half
with perfect knife
that left the light dimmed
and the water filled with stars

An August Night

Now I know what you do on your weekends other than fish.  Playing around like that like a couple o otters.....well gggggoooooooddd for you.  Stay forever young in your heart.
