T'was a summer day... you asked for my hand, Oh love of my life, I do understand. It was a magical moment, I'll never forget. The look in your eyes so fearless and yet, My head started spinning, my heart pounding fast! The man of my dreams had asked me at last! The thoughts in my brain, they started to turn, Of the years gone by and the lessons we'd learned. The lovers of the past, both yours and mine, Only to join us together in time. The trials we've encountered and those we've yet to face, Making sure to leave the past the past, surely that's it's place. I'll always remember sweetly, all you've done for me, But the single most important one is the friend you've come to be. So what will it be? Is this what you ask? The love of my life or the men of my past? To choose the men left in my past, now this would be absurd, For you are the one I'm in love with, or have you not yet heard? So when it comes to illusions of future chains to hide, Always remember, deep in your heart, is where I will abide! Debbie L. Hoskins |
