The small-town store with purple frontis-piece,
Graced with a contrasting rosette trim,
Awaits with wonderful eclectic things,
For the morning traveler dropping in.

A stainless steel and bronze-trimmed mirror,
Against the wall, so carefully placed
Waits for the store mistress to happen near,
To emboss itself with her flowing grace.

Coffee brewing at the back of the store,
Beckons senses as it fragrantly sings.
Caressing like a siren, it implores
A yearning love of those eclectic things.

Chairs inviting young boys' legs to swing,
Cast iron garden stakes at front plate glass,
Join forces with other eclectic things,
Daring any person to wander passed.

So many temptations in Heather's store,
Aromas and scents and curios and dreams.
Warm welcomes delivered, and so much more,
Beckon all as friends to "Eclectic Things."

Such beauty and comfort here, the treasures of others' lives.

Hhmmm Sailor. I've wanted to visit before but now the urge is much greater.   You paint a lovely picture and I am sure the real thing is even lovelier.

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shodows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face...

You've given the reader a pleasant poetic tour of this place. The detail with which you set about describing the "details" makes for charmed, fascinating reading. Thank you.

Oh my the shock I had when I saw this! Wow! I am so flattered   You saw the shop when it was such a mess too! (wish you could see it now...bring Lorelei and you back soon eh? *hug*) You're a sweetie, and I think you got just right the feeling I am trying to impart with my shop.
Thank you so much

Heather - thank you so much for your wonderful comments.

As for the rest of you - Eclectic Things is a terrific place - the store embraces you from the moment you walk in - so many different themes, all working together, like a complex wine.  As for Heather - well.... I'm talking real class here, folks.  She is a truly beautiful person - inside and out.  She has a personality that won't quit, and is full of vitality.  Lorelei and I thoroughly loved her home and store - right from the beginning.

Paula - "Eclectic Things" is in Carlton, Oregon - just up the road from McMinnville - the Store Mistress will make you feel as if you've known her your whole life, and the store will draw you in.

Heather? moi?  psst, Do you really think I'm good at sucking up???  I try so hard to please....

I hope things work out so we can all get together this September.

Nan - I hear you loud and clear, lil Lady.
