In the REAL world
   telephones ring
   children fight
   work calls
   bills get paid

In the REAL world
   floors get dirty
   dishes need doing
   laundry piles up
   dogs need walking

In the REAL world
   old loves cause pain
   grass needs mowing
   cars need repairing
   dinner gets made

So if I retreat to this world of words
Why is that considered so wrong?
To say it is just a fantasy
Does these words an injustice
Two hearts sharing words is the beginning
From there who knows where it leads
Its no different than a smile across a crowded room
There has to be a spark before there's a flame
And reality is what you make it
Every day of every life

oh yes, words are reality for they are everything we are and feel inside that we sometimes cannot speak, but more often are able to write, and you have captured this beuatifully..........

Paula....
Care if I frame this one? You just
have to be reading my mind here!!
          I don't think it's wrong to retreat
into the world of words, but the
problem is, I want to stay here!!
This is too good for words,
                  and I love it......

I have but one goal in
life.........
To make you smile!

This is so very true. It is no diffrent then a smile across a crowded room. You have spoken what I am sure we all feel. I like "your world of words". Wonderful read here!

Paula,

My poetry and the canvas I paint are my reality.  I think with any gifted writer, such as yourself, the same is true.  You've done a wonderful job here and I agree with Sunny, it should be framed.

One person's reality is another's fantansy and vice versa...so, what IS reality? A state of being?  The act of living, and all that incurs? Is the reality of insanity different from the reality of what's considered normal? Or have the insane focused on true reality and the rest is insanity??

Good, thoughtful piece.  Nicely done.

Cathy...thanks so much

jwesley...your reply is a poem unto itself...reality is whatever suits your purpose at the time...and when its no longer convienent then it becomes a fantasy...and who's to say who's sane? Like they say...its the rest of the world thats crazy not me.
