Driving You Crazy

Will I still drive when I’m ninety-five?
Head hidden behind the wheel,
Safe inside my cream puff caddy
Surrounded by a ton of steel.

With glasses down around my nose
Support hose bagging at the knees,
My tennis shoes pushed to the pedal
Inching the speed up by degrees.

Waving to kids to get out of the way
Can’t stop this boat on a dime,
My reactions ain’t what they used to be
And they get slower all the time!

But the gals at the club are waiting
Must push the speed to twenty-five
With a prayer to above and some luck
I might even get there alive!

And if I park in two spaces
Well, cut this old gal some slack
Cause I could go at anytime
But I might also just come back!

He He Corinne,
I can imagine you driving recklessly down an empty street at a very high speed of 20 - 25 kmph and still gritting your teeth, lips shivering in a perpetual praying mode...
but what the heck, I don't even have a car to drive, I walk at a brisk 2 kmph maybe...

btw, nice poem...

regards,
Sudhir

This has been so full of chukles for me and I had flash backs to your little test drive in the humvee.....thank heavens you settled on the cadilac.....now check those mirrors before you park and don't forget :

Red is for stop
Green is for go
Yellow means floor it
as you are moving to slow.LOL

Yes.  I can see our Corinne as she idles down the street,
Both hands firmly on the wheel, smiling sickly sweet.
Too careful to take any chances lest she make mistakes,
Driving without the gas, but with constant brakes.

Peering through the steering wheel at the dotted line,
Straddling it just perfect as she takes her time.
Turning left from the right lane as she turns into the drive,
Oh.  Did I mention that sweet Corinne is only 35?

Loved your poem, Corinne - you have some of the neatest topics!

           trying to pass!!!

             with a humorous touch....
                   I want more!!!!!

I have but one goal in

To make you smile!

Hey Paula, you're right, ya know?  Those old gals can't go any faster than me!

Sudhir, sometimes I wish I didn't drive - too many old ladies out there causin' havoc!

Thanks, Doreen!

Mark - you've got a great memory! Well, the Hummer was too high for the old gal to climb aboard, ya know?

LongJohn, you crack me up!  And hey, how did you know I drive like that now! At least you were kind enough not to say I had GAS!

Thanks, Sunny, now go on, go ahead and pass (if you dare) Muhahahaha!

Park, put her in park (ahem)!

Corinne
