And He Wakes

my fingers trace
across his skin
in the soft moonlight
I watch him lay
unaware
to my gaze
as in his dreams
he sleeps

the shadows fall
across his face
draped in the halflight
and ever so slightly
he stirs
under my hands
as in the night
he sleeps

my soft lips touch
upon his own
where under sheets of silk
in the bed we share
he smiles
as in my arms
he wakes

What lies behind us and lies before us are small matters compaired to what lies within us.

AAHhhhhhhhhhhh Ruth. You write so beautifully of something I dream of. I also miss your work as well as you my friend. My love to you always. ((HUG))

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shodows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face...

What a romantic poem I must say.  short and soooo sweet.  I think the fact that he sleeps makes it all the more romantic because you love him as is.  What a beautiful poem
