Was, Is, Will Be

Verdant grasses kissed by spring's sun
in the span of so long ago
tenderest of shoots have sprung
flowers burst in rosette glow

as the days passed into dark
the love within us set a spark

summer sun lent its heat
at its zenith in rainbow prism
robin's song sung so complete
in the heat flashed criticism

as the days passed into dark
the love internal set a spark

fall fell fast in leafed nobleness
as the gray blended with your hair
there was comfort in arms and kiss
as souls walked that path there

as the days passed into dark
the love between us set a spark

enfin in winter's calm crystalline day
our last moments spent in clarity
allow me one last trice to say
loving you was a wondrous rarity

as the day passes into dark
love eternal was the spark.
