The children were starting out their day,
Seeking a day of fun and play.
As they played around their room,
The building shook with a boom.

As the bulding began to fall apart,
The children were cast in the dark.
As the fire and smoke rose in the sky,
Many of the children began to die.

As a nation we began to cry,
In our hearts wondering why.
Who could do this terrible deed,
The people of America began to plea.

Why did innocent children have to die,
Asked their parents as they watched and cried.
The children never had a chance,
They were innocent victims of circumstance.

            Cathy Bohannan

Poem was written in memory of children killed
in the Oklahoma City bombing.

It is hard for the normal human to understand how a sick mind like this could scheme such a terrible deed and continue through with it. This was one of the most heinous act of cowardice that the history of mankind has ever witnessed, right up there with the holocaust....Thanks for the reminder and for the powerful way you put this point across in verse...
