~ Sunset by the River ~

Burnt-orange orb settles on the horizon in the west,
Ball glowing brightly as the day now comes to rest,
Salmon clouds are painted falsely on the baby-blue,
Moments only passing between the colours changing hue.

Crunching pathways snake with the river in between,
Tandem fluid motion through the rolling banks of green,
Crooked fingers on ancient gums reach grotesquely to the sky,
Day's end pierced with raucous screech as one hundred Cockies fly.

Burnt ruby-red has filled the west as the orb now disappears,
Trunks grand with age reflect the sun as they have for countless years,
No witnesses left that saw their birth, now majestically they stand,
Silhouetted giants in regal bark stand proudly on the land.

Creeping fingers crawl their way across the darkening ground,
Charcoal blanket of the night falls without a sound,
Day dissolves into the night whilst it's memory drifts away,
Tomorrow's hope is promised in the final fading rays.

Linda~
Sooooooooooo lovely !
Oh, the very thought of the magnificent
birds on the wing at sunset ....
just re-affirms my desire of wanting someday
to come and see the beauty of your land.

This is very, very serenly thought-provoking.
What a lovely vision you have shared.
Thank you for this gift.

Hi Linda,
I couldn't take my eyes off this as I was reading it. You do have a way with words. Very nicely done.
