If you're the type of person who reads too much into things, you'd better not read this.

Mike

-the quest to find a succubus-
Moonlight falls like prolonged lightning through my window.
The pane has an angry mouth -- a hole someone made with a rock.
That person was me. The rock was a gift from an exgirlfriend.
You should have seen it -- rose quartz with fingers of crystal.
Now it's broke in pieces, several colored, useless chunks.

(line break)

Lust falls like prolonged yearning through my ugly body.
Ha! Be kind, be gentle? Never again.
Do you know what it feels like to draw a knife across your chest?
The blood doesn't sting, but the angry mouth is too big.

(line break)

Chilled, fogged brown bottles in the fridge.
I slopped their acrid mix all over my carpet.
Oops. Bad boy all bloody and knifey and angry and lonely.
Oops. Bad boy. He wanted to shoot god through His heart.

(line break)

The quest for a succubus is a journey
Requiring lots of false belief
That things will surely get better.
Things will surely matter when you're selling yourself cheap.

(line break)

My favorite orgy is the one with pills,
Where they all **** and suck in my bloodstream.
When I die, when the moonlight hurts to look, to see myself
Naked in shadows and seeping sheets.

(line break)

I called that ***** just last week.
I asked her, what's it like to get a phone call from your abortion?
I asked her, what's it like to be willfully raped?
She said
"Great. Just great."

(line break)

Ha. I can crack a smile like a pottery barn.
Ha. I can make love like a dead thing buried.
Ha. I can break myself in two like a rock on a hill.
Ha. I can die. But it's for me -- never you.

(line break)

Ha. I can listen to music that bursts my capillaries.
Ha. I can drink drugs until I'm sexily unawake.
Ha. I can pray that when god is finished with my bones
He'll save my penis in a jar for rape.

(line break)

The quest for the succubus ended when I looked in the mirror last night, today.

Hi, S'en, I'll be on icq again soon -- just not tonight (I'm talking with Lori tonight   ). Anyway -- yeah, the poem pretty much blew me away, too. I had a semi-okay/semi-not-okay day, and talk about a venting of feelings I didn't even know I still held onto. Being a writer is great.

So well written!

Thanks for the introductory warning...I would have been a guilty party.
After reading the replies I can feel the venting of feelings.....but you know, it proves that you are one hell of a good writer.

I felt like I have been dragged through a river of bile with this poem but after reading the disclaimer it actually tastes more like chocolate. A very interesting poem, this sent many shivers down my spine.

Glad you all enjoyed, and yes Janet Marie, I was talking especially to you!   And Brian, you must have only ever eaten bitter chocolate if you think that disclaimer did anything at all.
