She was too young to be
so frazzled
a baby slung across her hip
this child that came to her
from the land of careless
from the place where skin has magic

magic so easily planted a seed
that curled around her heart
and squeezed joy into all her places
wonder of wonder this life
beget of nonchalance

She thought she couldn’t
take care of so much urgency

and so she searched for answers
from unlikely places
and oh how she messed up
seeing through her need
falling into comfortable
like it would hold her

How could she be big enough
or capture enough wisdom
to give depth to this infant
that twirled around her life
with questions that she couldn’t answer

and all around there were songs
that she didn’t hear
as she danced to quiet a baby’s cry
she danced with monsters that would scream
and sang to steady the ache

and then one day
after the sky had melted
and rained all its bitter truth
after the umbilical cord was stretched
and tied her whole life up with balloons
she saw where peace was planted

of course it had been there all the time
peace waits so patiently you know
because it takes so long to see
that bright bulb's hidden treasure
just needs a little light that’s all.

Martie~
What tender refreshment you are.

Like a walk across the meadow
       tiptoeing through daisies.

Like splashing through puddles
       of a soft-falling rain.

Bringing me serenity
       with your thoughts
               once again.

I love this !

Hey, can I get one of them thar kisses gal?
Martie-each time I see your name I know that I am in for a treat and this one is no exception.  The wondering and the insecurities turning to peaceful answers is done with such grace.....as only you can do so well.  You know, in that "MARTIE" kind a way.  Beautiful....just beautiful....

MArtie, standing ovation. Wow you continue to leave me in awe. Another perfectly crafted poem.

CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!
Thunderous applause!
Nothing else;
For words will
only dampen
the spirit of
the clapping...

Martie,
Once again great work...

regards,
sudhir
