there's a window that won't go away over our words.
a hush that can't be cried away with water, sticky paper.
a sky that slowly pulls apart its cloud-sutured distance,
spraying bright sharp light like needles in knees.

there's a fear not to be discovered in that sky,
nor an empty room,
nor one full of those but us.
there's a whispered yearning rush like crushed velvet,
satin, plush.

i burn for her.
this is our time to shine, to flare,
to gasp like the fallen horizon
never again to know the sun.

to flower with love or loss;
i can almost hear her.
i can almost feel her parts --
head and body, soulcollected
like invisible rain on moonpooled leaves,
stones.
nothing falls over the slowpiecing dark.

under summer's leaden promise of fun and escape,
it's our time to decide
the waiting wall's shape.

Mike, this is so full of tender yearning, tinged with impatient frustration...written by your heart, so I could I not love this?

It is in the soundings of the words, the projection into the mind of the images that rise from the words, and the words themselves, that one becomes lost...when reading your work.

Thanks, Martie. And reading your stuff, the feeling is mutual.
