( my apologies to any group I've insulted....except, of course, defense lawyers   )

If I were President, my friends,
I'll  tell you what I'd do.
I'd look hard at this land of ours
And make a change or two.
I'd make the congress tell me where
My hard-earned money went
That I should get at 65
If I were President.

If I were leader of this land
Car salesmen couldn't lie.
You'ld get to see the honest price
And then decide to buy.
Fine print would be in simple words
That folks could understand
And contracts would be handshakes if
I were to rule this land.

If I could be the man on top
The juries would all go.
We'd simply use truth serum to
Learn all we need to know.
"No contest" pleas would be outlawed...
You're guilty or you're not
And lawyers wouldn't rob you blind
If I were there on top.

If I were Mister Number One
Insurances would pay
Amounts that they agreed to when
You signed your life away.
Mechanics wouldn't charge you for
The work they hadn't done
And guarantees would be upheld
If I were Number One.

If I were sitting in that chair
All crooks would be interred
And have to pay the victims for
The damages incurred.
Congressmen would have to live by
Laws that they passed there
And pay for their own limousines
If I were in that chair.

If I were top dog in the pound
There wouldn't be parole
And prisoners who broke the rules
Would wind up in the "hole".
Doctors who screwed up their patients
Wouldn't be around
But would be held responsible
If this dog ruled the pound.

If I were President...Vienna
Sausages would rule
And golf would be the only subject
Taught in any school.
All birds would have to chirp in rhyme
And papers only print
The news that makes one feel good
If I were President.

All righty then... The Passionate Party Convention shall be held in Philadelphia - Denise will be the Campaign Manager.... We'll need a running mate, of course - and don't we have to get signatures??? Doreen - You get started on the Campaign posters... What else do we need....

Hey Deer... I LOVE this poem...

You got my vote, but I don't think you would be considered due to your honesty. I think if someone like you were in charge America could be a free country. I like your poem.

I don't believe you brought HIS name up
in this thread, Ms. Nan!!!
this kitty-cat will eat him live
and YOU know that I can!
No!! LongJohn won't be running mate...
meeeeooooouch!!! That's toooooo remote!
And so I post this little rhyme,
while Balladeer has my vote!

And...Hey! by the way...
can't the President choose
his very own running mate?
This kitty cat's been pussyfooting 'round
and it's quite late....
I'm not very hip on how this works,
but i'll tell you this, Ms. Nan...
If LongJohn runs as someone's Vice,
pandora's got a plan!

(nope, not telling... meeeeeeeooooowwwwtttta here)

Dear Sir Balladeer,
The King amongst men,
President if you were,
Of the US of A, then,
Ballads would replace
political speeches,
Romance would replace,
warring leeches...

Dear Sir Balladeer,
The Lord amongst men,
President if you were,
Of the US of A, then,
Glee would replace
destituted poverty,
Truth will replace
false hooded liberty.

Humour would be a rule
Life filled with fun,
Happiness would be cool,
Dark shadows would run...

.....

Alas, I can't vote in the US of A... but you have all my moral support...

regards,
sudhir
P.S. What a wonderful poem!

ROFL!!!! at Jon... hehe

JON... that's the kind of entrepreneurial thinking which makes this country GREAT!!! hehe... can't stop laughing... what an excellent idea!!! hey, you could start a new brand of golf equipment...gotta think of a name... hmmmmm....you could have 'Deerskin golf bags, and Golf Ball-adeers, and MackIrons, and then you could open a chain of pro-shops with a lounge & restaurant and call it ClubMack and they could have a more elite lounge called the Presidents Club overlooking the 18th hole!! hehe... i would like to be involved in this after the election... you will need a marketing director and a logo and a marketing plan, i'm sure... just call me at 222-222-2222... this is 2 much... *wink*... ahhh the thrill of capitalism! this is absolutely Inaugural!

Yep......Now I'm not undecided anymore!!

       ~~~~~BALLADEER FOR PRESIDENT~~~~~
     Has a nice ring to it, but the
     running mate really ought to be
                a woman!!!!!
  This poem is a national treasure, although
  I think hot dogs are more appropriate than
               vienna sausages!!
                  (tee-hee)
To make you smile!
Well, well... Sir Balladeer for President.  I'd vote for ya, sure... but you're to good a man and chances are some crazed lunatic would shoot ya and then we'd end up with Long John.  And of course he's to good for the position as well... so bang! he's gone too... Next thing ya know we're working through the various secretaries... one by one... PIP's greatest poets dropping like flies.  Till finally some punk lobbyist is elevated to the number one spot.  And with our luck it'll be Toerag.  Ya... I'd vote for you, but I don't want all that on my conscience. I like you and all the gang at PIP to much.  Oh... by the way... really enjoyed your poem.  How true, how true.
Peace my friend!
Well, looks like the solution is obvious....just write in "Balladeer" on the ballot, and see how many of us across this nation actually vote for him....!!!     Excellent poem!!
