Corn Ships

In soil of Americas
Planted fertile seed did raise
Flourishing in summer's sun,
Perpetual stalks of maize...

In search of Americas
Landed empty hulls did reap
Exploring for kernel's gold,
Intrusional bowels of deep...

In spoil of Americas
Gathered golden heaps did find
Obscuring in native's field,
Residual cobs and rind...

In trade of Americas
Favored foreign tongue did praise
Sustaining world hunger's need,
Salvational ships of maize.

Your eloquence gives this piece a charm that I enjoyed. A very well~constructed, thoughtful poem. Please share more?

Bob....
Thank you for sharing this! This is
a great piece of writing with a huge
message. Not only could we help feed
the world, but we could feed the people
here at home, and put our poor farmers
     back into business!!
                Good job!!

I have but one goal in
life.........
To make you smile!

Oh my gosh...Look who you find when you wander around the forums!!!!  Great piece Bob, coming from an area where agriculture is our major industry....and where there are more cows than people in the county, this is truly appreciated.  As sunny1 said, let's feed the world, feed our own and help the farmers!  Bonnie
