Today is my birthday- and this is a poem about it.

candles will be
lit
today

and I will
blow them out

another year

a celebration
of my life.

and I wonder where you are
today
when I make my
wish

if you could feel my
thoughts
in the air

as thick as honey

maybe I'll wish for
peace

to iron the wrinkles
in my heart
and start again

or perhaps I'll wish for
strength
to be my compass
through the
storm

I'll wish for faith
for beautiful things
for innocence again...

I'll wish for you.

and the courage to
say
we were just too good
to be apart
like this

we will know each other
again
soon.

with a soft smile

I blow out
the candles...

thank you so much, both of you, for the replies! I love feedback! And Marge- that is such a beautiful candle! I'm not sure if I want to blow it out just yet...I think I'll just gaze at it for a while longer...thank you!
