Listen up children
I have a story to tell
About a small town beauty
and the local ne'er do well.

Nan was an angel
   the towns homecoming queen
Billy was a rebel
from the rock and roll scene.
Nan was content with her
   family and friends
Billy knew his destiny
was to go out with the wind.
Then one fine day as fate
   would have it
Their paths did chance
   to cross.
Dark eyes met blue
   and at that moment
Two hearts were instantly
   lost.
Billy wrote a song one
   night
about the love he
   felt for Nan
The song became an
   instant hit
Played all across
   the land.
Billy had the fame
   he'd sought
the cheers, the power,
   the adulation.
All the things that
   money bought
But their love was in
   a desperate situation.
Nan just couldnt take
all the glitter and the strife
All the groupies and
   the dreamers
wanting a part of
   Billys life.
The words were spoke
   in anger
as she headed out
   the door.
Don't bother coming
   home tonight
I wont be there
   anymore.
She rode around for
   hours
Til the anger faded
   away
She knew she'd take
   him back
at the ending of
   the day.
She went home expecting
   to find him there
but found the cops
   waiting for her instead.
It seems Billy had
   taken her words to heart
And put a bullet
   in his head.

Words spoken in anger can never be retrieved...

Damn, this is one hot poem. You have a great mind. Such a sad ending though. But I loved it.

Oh, Paula....
            This is incredible!!! There
really is a song in there, you know.
Take it from me, the music business
      does just this to people!!
                 Great job here, friend...

Hi Paula,

What a wonderful story you've put together here.  I do, however, wish it had ended on a happy note, but life doesn't always have happy endings, unfortunately...You're so talented!

Take care,

Michael
