The gnomes were nabbed, they'd done a job So now they faced cops "firing squad" The copper said "please explain yourselves!" "Why each of you have taken off the shelves" "All the paint and the glue that was in stock" "And why you smashed the door and lock!" The gnomes looked left and then to right Then furrowed their brows and began to fight "It wasn't me!" the head gnome said Then the littlest gnome climbed on leader's head "Oh yes it was, you led the way!" "You said we'd see a better day" Lead gnome replied "It wasn't me!" "I was at home in front of TV" The little one yelled "You got us sprung!" "Your plan was flawed, it stunk like dung!!!" With their noses red they began to hit And punch each other, one even bit!! The chips of clay flew round the room The copper went to get the broom He swept the bits of green and red Then grabbed head gnome by his red-capped head "Enough of this! I'm stopping you! "I know you need the paints and glue" "But stealing them is not the way You have to work, you have to pay" "But we have chips and some have flakes" "And some have cracks, and need some paint" "So to law we did not heed" And that is WHY we done the deed" I believe them.... don't you?????
