A meeting of destiny’s chance
A melding of lost souls
Slow and unsure you move on
With the fragile newness of  fouls

Touch and pull back afraid to feel
Reaching silently beyond the pain
He saw only what he had to loose
Leaving you to show what was to gain

Words of hope in the night
Became more than saving grace
How could you ever have known
A fight against time you would race

The unforgiving clock began to tick
Louder with each passing day
The wick of death’s candle lit
Coming to take him away

You gave the love he needed most
With each show of gentle heart
In turn love and forgiveness bestowed
Each moment a sweet work of art

He showed you how to love
And then how to let go
An ultimate gift he requested of you
Reaching to a poet’s heart you did show

You allowed him to walk on
Back to the angels he flew
Trying desperately to keep
Promises that were begged of you

Through him you rained sweetness
Drenched with pain and ache
Your words no longer your own
A new form together they take

Giving wings to his spirit and soul
Upon your heart his fingerprints I see
From your lips I hear his voice
~Butterflies are meant to be free~

~In loving memory of a Butterfly
A Tribute to an Angel~

it will be my words that will lack to do this justice...
it is poetically just that one  butterfly
should...
pay another such a amazing tribute.
thank you for this my sweet SS...
know that I am touched deeply..
for you to have found such grace of inspiration from my poetry of him
pays him the sweetest honor there is...
He now flows thru your poets pen as well..
thank you again...
this one is imprinted on my heart
and makes you an angel with butterfly wings
love you much

Thank you all for your kind replies....I
can't take credit for this though...this was
a poem that truly wrote itself...I was
merely the voice.  Janet your poetry of him
inspired this and created this piece...it is
Yours, I'm the one that thanks you from the
bottom of my heart~

ButterfliesDC~

From the cocooning of your heart -
a butterfly has emerged to wing it's way
to another loving heart.

You do your sister-poet proud to know
that she fluttered so softly in your heart
as to stir you to write this beauty.

What a gentle soul you are.

This is captivating from beginning to end.  Your talent is amazing in writing this masterpiece, seriously, this is a classic and should be entered in the next Voices On The Web Book.  Besides your poem "Behind The White Picket Fence, this is now my favourite poem of yours.  In fact, I'm printing it out right now to have a copy to keep forever.  I have re-read this piece many times over, and it gets better every time.  This poem is magical, inspiring and touching.  Very well written with an artistic flair that only you can bring to life.  You should be very proud of your work!

Take care,

Holly-I know that this tribute hit home both here on earth and also to the one in heaven.  Your words show the pure love of a true love but your heart shows your purity in friendship to have penned this for her in recognition of him(them)...you are truely a treasure.   Beautiful and sincere as I knew it could only be.

This is sad but enlightening......beause in death we are reborn right??

Never do we hope to take an angels flight
and never does an angel wish for our sight
for in this life we know nothing else
bestowed upon us the will to live
we do not want what the angels have to give.

Just a little haiku I wrote and thought it fitting here....

This made my heart ache for the pain of her loss but also filled me with a sense of acceptance. I have never read anything quite like this, it was a very emotional piece that I will keep always. An Angel he is to her, that will forever remain.
