She sits at the bus station, tattered and torn.
A sad, stooped figure appearing to mourn.
Seemingly looking at the hands in her lap.
To my surprise, I take a step back.

Back in the shadows so I might see,
a glimmer of who this woman might be.
Is she a Mother? A Daughter? A Wife?
What could have happened to bring her this life?

The people dont see her as they rush by.
To their busy lives they go and never ask why.
She lifts a filthy hand to her hair.
What is so important that these people don't care?

Something familiar, my soul starts to shriek.
Another step, there's a tear on her cheek.
Something familiar about her face.
I choke back my fear and quicken my pace.

I look at this woman, this woman of scorn,
and I see the truth. My heart is torn.
This invisible woman that the people dont see;
this long lost soul. This woman is me.

Angel,

A very well written poem...

very touching and heart-felt...

regards,
sudhir.

P.S. small typo on line 1, stanza 4 shreik - shriek?
