~TO MY ABUSER~

When I was a child,
you bruised my soul,
stole the hopeful dreams from my little hands
and battered my heart,
when I was a teenager,
you told me that I was ugly, fat, stupid and useless,
you devoured my spirit and my confidence
and convinced me that no man could ever love
someone like me
and I believed you,
but, now, I am a woman,
healing,
no longer yours to abuse -
to build yourself up from my pain and my tears,
so many years of weeping has shown me
how beautiful a single teardrop of happiness can be,
and now these tears cleanse the past,
the memory of you
and your cruelty,
for, in the long run
I will be the winner and you the loser,
I'll once again know love and peace,
and although my heart shall never forget
the terror that you made me endure,
blame and shame shall cease,
I will no longer allow myself to be a prisoner of sorrow
because I'm making the choice right now
to set myself free,
soaring with wings to my own success,
now grateful to God for the wonder of dawn's light,
although the roads have been long and winding,
although I have tasted emptiness and bitterness,
I thank you, daddy,
for making me strong,
goodbye, my abuser

Oh Melissa ... you have touched my heart deeply with this emotional poem. I feel courage and strength coming through your words, and pray that if this is a personal rendering, that these difficult words have helped to heal your sorrow. Powerfully written Melissa ...

Best wishes and prayers,
/Kit

Melissa* I've written a few of these
letters...none in poem form and none as kind
as yours.....You are a strong woman Melissa
and I've gained strength to look at parts of
myself that I have hidden away for many
years...thank you from the bottom of my
heart.  And to you...**Angel Wing Hugs** for
the woman you have turned into....you are
truly beautiful~

Melissa,

This was so powerful and moving.  I am so sorry to hear you have had to endure such pain.  I am sure it took a lot for you to post this piece and I am proud of you for having the strength and courage to do so.  Always remember, my friend, you are beautiful in your own way.  Your heart is gold.  Powerful writing full of raw emotion.  ***HUGS***

You should be so proud!  That you could have the courage to say the words that most abused keep locked away is very commendable!  I hope that everyone who reads this takes part of it with them to learn, to heal and to remember.
I am so proud of you! May the rest of your life be filled with much happiness.
