~HOLLOW TEARS~

Endless tears,
containing not a drop of love, hope or joy,
disperse from battered eyes,
mourning the end of childhood,
how this little girl was forced to grow up too soon,
seeing horrifying images that will wound the heart forever,
hollow, they stream, down little cheeks
onto her raggedy-ann doll,
a loyal friend who would never hurt her or call her stupid,
held tightly with little hands,
hands that used to hold daddy's hand...
now empty,
like her tears
and her heart,
an abused child weeps,
as her sadness echoes off the walls
in a hollow room,
coating her tortured mind and body
in hopelessness,
with escape so bleak,
little girl cries and cries,
and little girl dies at the hands
of her daddy

than I can tell you. It is so very sad, so

I can only say that you touched
             me with this, and wrote
                it so very well...

Oh how this breaks my heart. Although I know child abuse is a very real thing I can't bear to think about it. Kids mean so much to me and the thoughts of one being hurt is more than I can handle. You really brought out some emotion in me with this one. Take care, Juls

Thank you everyone for replying to this important poem.  Child abuse is an important issue and I only wish that one day no child would ever have to suffer

Melissa you have knocked the wind out of me again.....this one dives right to my heart and causes the tears to run freely.  Yes it is an important issue that no one should turn from just because it makes them uncomfortable.  Thank you for sharing this very powerful piece~

This is something that is close to my heart also...I've seen what abuse does to children, and it tears me apart...this is deeply sad and so true...

This is so strong Melissa and so well written.

Cry your tears into the rain
And the'll be lost
And then the pain
Will flow into lifes
Healing stream.....

Wipe your eyes
And live your DREAM

You know this one wrings my heart.
We've such a duty to watch after the children.
Wonderfully stated, my friend.
