Even Poets Must Die

"Oh Goddess of light,
truth, and knowledge,"
I cast my circle and pray.
"What shall happen?
What will we do?
They silenced my voice today."
I light the candles and toss my stones,
murmuring all the while.
"This is the start of the end."

"Oh Goddess of words,
beauty, and light,
we are lost without hope.
Our people are nothing
without our legends and tales,
how in your name will we cope?"
I sit and I pray,
eyes alight with the fire,
flickering stars, and peaceful wind.

"Oh Goddess of love,
light, and the pen,
I fear for my words," I cry.
"They silenced my voice,
vanquished my sword,
and even poets must die."

The circle has closed,
I extinguish my candles,
and sit under the trees and cry.

"Oh Goddess, oh Goddess,
they silenced my voice today,
and even poets must die.
Even poets must die."

I think poets die in many ways.   Not just in the physical sense.   Enjoyed the work here.

Nothing can deter a poet, for he is actuated by pure love. Who can predict his comings and goings? "Thoreau"

I like your use of metaphors here, the sense of not just a death of a voice, but the impending spiritual death of the speaker.  Well written, I enjoyed this.

She walks in silence and waits in shadow. She is my lady and my angel.

skysight,

I liked this alot, powerful writing. Poets will live forever in a sense.. as long as one person reads their art.. their memory will live on.

The silent poet
the empty voice
dies in the wind
press on my words press on

the voice must be saved
the silence is soon broken
the voice not silent still
the poets breathe together, muses drink their  fill

Silence cannot tame them
Not eternity break their spell
the poets voice is timeless
be they in heavon or in hell

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling
'Tis
