She gave him her heart
Right from the very start
She knew he was the one
Who could raise the sun

Gray skies turned to blue
When he said I love you
The weight on her chest
Was finally laid to rest

The day had looked bleak
Until he made her weak
Before they said goodnight
He set her heart alight

Miles apart on the phone
She stopped feeling alone
Her spirit began to soar
In time he'd love her more

Music, poetry, and cards
Could fill a thousand yards
Memories to always be cherished
Even after their love had perished

Lone Wolf,
A surprise ending for a very lovely poem. I'm glad that I had the chance to visit with you, and read what you have written.

What a beautiful love you speak of. Love like
this is worth the pain of loosing it I think
to have a moment in time with one that means
so much and connects so deeply......for that
I would shed a million tears...in fact I
think I did that a time or two   Great
writing my friend, this was beautiful work~

A sad twist to this little tale, but very sweet just the same

Lw, another wonderful expression of emotion here.  Even at a time when the future looks bleak, you will always have those memories.  Time heals the heart and then eventaully the good memories return.

Lone Wolf...
I love the ending!!!! It leaves
it to the reader to resolve it, and
that makes for a play between writer
and reader!!  This is great stuff!!!!

Perished, yet cherished. Lovely poem.

Amazing how that first love clings like a ghost long after the partners have separated.
The things that made that true love so special never die.  Such a very good job you have done here to capture the emotions of separation, when the old love says, "I still love you."
