Winds of Change

Icy North winds blow across my barren soul
Where once was a warm, Southern breeze;
But the light begins to fade away,
And in the darkness my heart does freeze.

I had such joy; my spirits soared,
I flew higher every single day,
But now my happiness has gone,
And a growing sadness takes its place.

I remember the day you came into my life
Riding the currents of a gentle Zephyr,
And your warmth melted cold discontent away;
I thought you would stay here forever.

For a while, you sat and spoke to me
Sharing stories from across the seas;
Now when I think on those great times we shared
It brings my soul to tears.

Once more I find myself alone,
Watching day fade into darkening night,
As loneliness and desolation threaten to overtake me;
I don't know if I have the strength left to fight.

And the night is upon me,
For the day is now gone.
Can I survive these Winds of Change
If I face them alone?

Oh sweet friend......this is so sad, you
shall never be alone, your heart is to pure
and loving to be alone.  You dove deeply for
this piece and it's beauty shines through
the tears.  Wonderful writing Terry ((hugs))
May the wind blow you a smile and a rainbow~

Beautiful sentiments...and I have to agree with Bdc on this one...you pulled this out from the deepest depths of your heart and soul and brought it to us riding a wave of purity.  Well done and you are never alone as long as you have your pen and your heart with you and can reach out and touch us like you have today.

Terry
I think this is the first sad poem by you
I recall seeing,
powerful emotions and imagery...
you have some very cool and unique images and lines as well.
Take heart my poet friend...
those same winds will carry you back to
safe harbors.
take care sweet-poet

Butterflies~
     My dear friend, thank you.  I can't put into words just how much what you said meant to me.  I feel that smile coming on, and if this gentle breeze keeps blowing, then I think my rainbow is just over the horizon.

Love Ya~

Mark~
     Thank you, my friend.  You are right; I always feel better once I empty my soul to paper and share it with all of you.

Sudhir~
     Thank you for your kind words, my friend.

JanetMarie~
     Thank you, my sweet friend.  I know that safe harbor is close by, sometimes I just lose sight of it.  But friends like you all help light the way, and the winds will calm down soon......

Love Ya~

Terry, despair is sometimes difficult to express adequately, because it rarely "sounds" as awful as it "feels." You have brought the feeling to this reader. Thank you for such acknowledging, emotive verse.

Claire~
     Thank you so much, my dear friend.  The true purpose of poetry is to share your emotions in such a way that others can not only read about them, but feel them as well.  I am honored that you think I have accomplished that.  Thank you so much.

Love Ya~

You didn't think I could read this and not post to it did you??  LOl

I agree this Jm.  This is the saddest poem I have known you to write.  Which would only prove that you are able to express yourself with a pen of happiness or otherwise.  A sign of an excellent poet, I think.

Hugs,
Marina

One can not often express all they feel but I feel everything you wrote here. Your sadness came over me and through me and left me filled with hope for you as you have taken the first step in your hearts repair, Writing this. So tender and true, hiding nothing. Perfect write of raw emotion here. Thank you for this.
