I have insurance on my life
I have it on my car.
I have it there for acts of God
Like hurricanes and war.

It's there for disability
And that's just for a start
But I don't have a policy
Against a broken heart.

I called my agent just last week
For something that would cover
Pain and suffering incurred
By some ungracious lover

'Cause when a heart is broken
It's not easy to repair.
The cost involved is staggering
And I'm no millionaire!

He asked what kind of shape it's in...
I said it wasn't bad -
A puncture here....a small nick there,
Sometimes it aches a tad.

It has a dent where it was kicked
And there's a tiny crack
Where some gal didn't treat it right
Before she gave it back.

The strings were broken once or twice
And, sometimes, on the street
When pretty girls come passing by
I feel it skip a beat.

The fault is mine. I know it is.
Not much more I can say
'Cause, even though I need it, I
Keep giving it away!

He said there was no policy
To give me what I need
For only Time can mend a heart
When it begins to bleed

So, if I chance to tell you
That I need to feel assured,
My heart won't take another break -
The damn thing's not insured!

A Balladeer special....

Fragile - my heart, fragile - it is
please don't break it girl, for it is
plain and simple like this cowboy,
worse still it's not insured. Oh boy!

'Tis such a wondrous tale you weave,
My lovely Balladeer;
A smile you place upon this face,
Each time your words I hear!

Exceptional writing ... loved this!
and ... PS from the alley ... we love you too!

Best wishes,
/Kit

There is no such insurance
for a broken heart...
although some have a policy
they often do impart --
They keep their hearts in a steel box,
closed up against the flame,
and make sure that it stays intact...
no need to make a claim.

Sometimes too much insurance
as you are speaking of ...
can keep you "safe"
but I would rather
take a chance on love.

*wink* - great poem, michael

a rhyme here, a verse there ...
and your heart is on the mend,
I'll be your claims adjuster ...
on this you may depend.
Your heart will be protected by a policy of poetry...

Having no medical, dental, life or anything else until October (new jobs suck), I could relate even if I hadn't known that broken heart syndrome and how all you get is a shrug and an "oh well" and wishes (some sincere) that healing comes quickly. *G*

By the way... I'm being verrrrrrry careful. LOL. I don't want to be croaking until someone can benefit from it. *G* (And we're not talking the relief from my pestiness such an occurrence would give Toe. *G*) Great poem, Deer!

Balladeer~
Wonderfully done, kind sir!  I wish that there was a way to obtain insurance (or even assurance   ) against that kind of thing.  If you ever find out where, please let me know!

Sir Balladeer... your heart, broken or otherwise, is so valuable even Lloyds of London couldn't cover the cost of a faulty valve. As is usual, a nice bit of work from the PIP Master.  Thanks for sharing. Peace!

Now as you have well implied
on our heart's beat we all rely
and here is yours all damaged and dented
can't be returned - it's not even rented...

but I would rather love's assurance be given
than have life insurance [which is not for the living]
and if your heart be broken, then on the mend it shall be
as your assurance is safe in the hands of me.

Oh, there's only one thing that can help a broken heart, especially one that's been left out in the cold, cold rain, and that's an umbrella policy!
come on get under mine, it's huge and keeps away those cold drops. No one should ever break your heart!!!!!

All right pull over buddy!
This is the Love Police stop right there!
I'd like to see your ownership, license and insurance
for your heart?
We have reason to believe you may not have
any love insurance!!!
Do you drive and dream of a lover?
If so what might her name be??
You know this is strictly confidential!!
You can whisper if you like!
Do you have a heart throb picture of her at hand or
in your wallet?
If so may I see it for proof?
I'm sorry but we have to search you for any small
black phone books that might be loaded with numbers
or more than one love poem from numerous female poets!!
If so do they all love you??(Female poets respond please?)
You'll have to produce at least ten or more responses within
48 hours.
Is that clear! I SAID IS THAT CLEAR??
Now if you get at least ten "I LOVE YOU's" or something to
that nature then you are free to go!!
But if you don't then we are going to have to take you down
to Passions jail where you will be tried and sentenced!
They can be harsh at times!
The usual sentence is Five poems in five days all about LOVE
the verses very depending on the judge's mood!
You seem like you’re a nice guy so tell you what I'm going to
give you a break today!
We are just going to pump this excellent poem up to the top and
see what happens?

Butterflies....thank you thank you

Rose...if that's a golf umbrella I'm on my way!!! That's an invitation impossible to turn down!

Tennessee....and so are you. I thank you!

serenity....my osmosis is your osmosis and I think you're doing just fine!

menage...oui oui oui

martie....I didn't know they showed! Thank you for such wonderful words and open wide the doors. There's a long line on the way....

insect....gee, officer, I musta left it in my other body! My love license was revoked for failure to yield the right of way. My black book only has my mother's name in it and she just wants to be friends. I renamed my waterbed the Dead Sea! Gimme a break please! I can't even cop a feel...can I at least cop a plea?

Love the response. You're the only insect in the world I like!!!

Balladeer~

Well, we could -

'Blame it on your
lying-cheating
cold
dead-beating
two-timing
double-dealing
mean-mistreating
loving heart'

Now that's a quote from your insurance agent -
Patty Loveless !!!

Seems 'Honesty is the best policy'
and yours is hereby cancelled ...
you didn't pay the premium !

Calling all lovers! Calling all lovers!
Suspect wearing flowered shirt with pink tie,
bell-bottom pants and clogs, last seen dreaming
of a lover in passions.
Proceed with caution, DO NOT KISS I repeat
DO NOT KISS, must make cardiac arrest, suspect
is smooth talker claims he has two bodies. May be
hiding other body in the Dead Sea.
Search for battery operated devices that might be used
to subdue victims!
CONSIDERED EXTREMLY LONELY!!
Was warned to produce at least ten "I love you's"
or something to that nature 48 hours ago.
We have information for a one WhtDove claiming he
is MASTER, she may be a slave to his sweet talk (A hostage).
He may also be a member of a love slave military group, we
have recorded information that a one Poet deVine answers
to the Master I mean Balladeer by ending her reply with "SIR".
He may be hiding with an accomplice with a code name dsnyder.
We have information that alias dsnyder is actually Denise and they
are all part of a secret organization of a group called "MODERATORS"!!
We are trying to decode his location from special words we found hidden
in a message from dsnyder saying, "you're in good hands" all are people
are working on it.
We also know for a fact that he has no Love Insurance because of a written
statement from his insurance agent Marge Tindal.
There is a passion court order from a judge for the "Balladeer" to put forth
five LOVE poems with at least THREE stanza's or more for each in TEN
days without the word "LOVE" in them. Now if he turns himself in the judge
may be easier on him. We've put the word out on the street and if he complies
with the court order the LOVE POLICE will not chase him down without end!!
