And On This Bough ... ~*Marge Tindal*~ Within the spread of every tree a special place is found Shared with loving hearts somewhere upon the bough A cradle hung to rock the babes of family born Holding special memories heart-sung lullabies so warm The strength within this tree held the swings of youthful play Gleeful screams of delight still echo there today The carving on the bark spelling LOVE within a heart Names have changed but the memories remain never to depart A weeping bough that shared the tears spilled by a few Held within the branches when happiness bloomed anew A nest for holding new ones with the songs they have to sing Rocking them in comfort until they too take wing Yes, this tree of family has sustained us all somehow Those who've come Those who've gone tucked lovingly within the bough ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

Paula~ Thank you. The boughs of the family tree stand alongside the old 'tree in the yard' of our youth. Linda~ Thank you, my friend. Sudhir~ This is a 'feeling' poem for sure ! Symbolic of the 'family tree' ... yet reminiscent of the backyard tree that gave most of us such pleasure. Tracie~ Thank you, sweet lady. Kit~ Guess we all have that tree of memory that held our laughter and our glee as kids. Ah Marge, the memories this has brought back. Stories told of parents playing in the tree, then us kids, then.....the grandkids.... Marge...so well done, so beautifully flowing, such recollections of different lives, such a pleasure to read....well done , well done... once again. The huge Pine tree at the old homestead that I had my picture taken under when I was a baby still stands....clipped a couple of times by lightning, but still there to mark generations from the turn of the last century......your poem brought back lots of memories...thank you.. |

As some one else mentioned..(Paula I think) this reminds me of a tree my grandmother had in her front yard and all the time my cousins and I used to spend there. It feels like a lifetime ago. Thanks for the memories rosepetals25 |

Were I to attempt this - 'twould be trite verse and that's my curse no matter the sincerity no matter the clarity would be hackneyed or worse but you told a story in wonderful rhyme a story of family one that spans time and for long ago I pine |

Marge, At our family homestead we have all these Cedars that are ancient....and sadly they have reached their maximum age, and are dying. Everyone in our family is mourning these icons.
