From Dictionary.com

Kenning:

A figurative, usually compound expression used in place of a name or noun, especially in Old English and Old Norse poetry; for example, storm of swords is a kenning for battle.

Can you make a kenning for any (or all) of the following words:

1.  Poetry
2.  Age
3.  Mirror
4.  marriage
5.  Boat
6.  Sword
7.  Butterfly
8   Wisdom
9.  Sky
10. Life

That was my favorite, too.  The rest are a bit contrived, just to finish the list.  It was, however, a fun exercise.
