I just thought I'd share these links with you.

This one is just a 10 question grammar test.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/mayo/grammar_test.shtml

This one is a pretty good spelling test.
There are 50 words on it, and either my spelling skills
are a bit rusty, or the test is a bit more difficult than it looks...or both.  LOL
http://www.sentex.net/~mmcadams/spelling.html

Have fun!

Sharon...LOL @ being a 'grammar'.
I got 9 out of 10 on the grammar test too.
I missed 10 on the spelling test, though,
and I've always been pretty good at spelling...
or so I thought!  Argh!

Glad you took the tests.

OK - Here's the deal.. I did get them all correct on the grammar - (I'd be angry at me if I didn't)..

Then I did the spelling and got six wrong - I'm such an arrogant twit sometimes.. I didn't believe it - So I went to 'dictionary.com' and put in what I thought to be the proper spellings and found myself to be accurate on all but two of them...(those silly 'ibles' and 'ables')...

So - If you've gotten 8 to 10 wrong - You're likely using a proper variant - Ergo - There are some trick questions here...

That grammar test was MUCH too easy, Nan. Try these.

Pick the correct answer (or answers).

#1

A. So - If you've gotten 8 to 10 wrong - You're likely using a proper variant
B. So--if you've gotten 8 to 10 wrong you're likely using a proper variant.
C. So, if you've gotten 8 to 10 wrong, you're likely using a proper variant.

#2

A. The use of an ellipse as a pause…is often over-used.
B. "The…ellipse usually signifies an ommission of unnecessary words."
C.  Or an ellipse may indicate trailing thoughts..
D. "The use of an ellipse usually signifies an ommission …."

#3

A. I asked, "Am I picking on Nan a little bit?"
B. What if I said to you, "Will she remember this one"?
C. "Maybe just a little, and I'll bet she does."
D. "But will she forgive me?" I worried.
E. "Well, will she!?"

#1 - "C " is correct - That would, by definition, indicate that my statement above is improperly varied.

#2 - "A" - Umm... I frequently over-use the ellipse in my writing, as you well know.  However, you know equally well that I could really use a "verbal" ellipse to accomplish the same in my conversations...  I'm forever pausing in the middle of a sentence to complete my thought...
#2 - "B" - Please define "ommission"… I looked that one up in my dictionaurous and just couldn't find it... Hmmm... Mayhaps it's "mispelled"?
#2 - "C" - I may have lots of those... But do you have a case of "Conjunctionitis"?.. If so, I think it's contagious...
#2 - "D" - Sorry, I lost my trail of thought... (I've managed to find several trains lately...)

#3 - "A" - She answered, "No, you seem to be picking on Nan a lot!"
#3 - "B" - Would her response be something like, "Of course"?
#3 - "C" - "I never would've assumed you to be a betting man," she replied.
#3 - "D" - "Oh, no!  Your Conjunctionitis is spreading!!!..."...
#3 - "E" - He wondered aloud, "How can I ENSURE ForgiveNess?"  There was one thing upon which he knew he could rely - she would definitely even the score!!

Gads, Nan...you've been able to make me feel better, 'cause I missed two on the spelling.  ACK!  I wasn't even going to admit it...however, I know for a fact that judgement and judgment are [in my general use AND in the dictionary] BOTH correct and it DEPENDS on which JUDGE you are submitting it to, and THAT is my final answer!

#1 - There are no correct answers (though probably not why one would think).
#2 - D is the only correct one.
#3 - All are correct (if you accept the interrobang).

Okay, ya definitely got me on omission. My m stuttered?

Now everyone knows why, while I took the grammar test, I didn't even bother to click on the link for the Spelling test. I know very little about television producers or their controversial daughters.
