Is spelling a part of good English? Proper use of words is, I know. But what of proper use of letters within those words?

LOL Nan, if it was up to you, we'd be all running around with our dictionary.

I do hope spelling is a part of good English. Otherwise I have to learn everything again.

Correct spelling is part and parcel to good English.  When I read a poem that is chuck full of spelling errors I have difficulty seeing the poem behind the misspelled words and I know I am not alone in this.  I'd actually be surprised if someone disagreed with me, Nan and Munda on this.

I disagree!!!

(Sorry - just to irk Jim...)

Well - it is interesting. I do agree, yet I also believe in a natural evolution of words. They change with the passage of time...I wonder HOW they change - who decides they change? Is it like a mass collection of errors? Or does 'someone' just decide they're going to start a word revolution...

Hmm - lol - questions for a new topic!

In essence I completely endorse correct spelling as we know it within our context.
But...having said that...lol - see new topic! Hehe
