The Killing Fields USA

With blood I write this on the wall
I can't bare to see another fall
With senseless killings everywhere
As sounds of bullets fill the air

No more a land of which I am proud
Where children's lives are disemboweled
And mighty men take to rest
And just brush these deeds off their chest

Of countless tears that have been shed
From Mothers eyes over their dead
Of the many Fathers who suffer still
With their child's lives now cold and still

In this they call a democracy
Land of the brave Home of the free
It seems the free walk hand and hand
With money passing through their hands

While sisters son's wont stand to wed
Because of the fact that they are dead
And a cure for cancer wont soon be found
Because the mind that holds it
now lays in the ground

I ask of you for whom we vote
do the words stick  inside your throat
Does your heart and minds just take a ride
While still another child dies

Just how many is it going to cost
Before you feel this total loss
For there are no rights that I possess
That is worth another child's death

I would die for him to live one day
Yes for your child,
I would give my life away
I am not his mother, or your wife
But the pain I feel inside is real
We must put an end to the killing fields

Tori- this is wonderfully sad, and to the point. I agree with you whole heartedly, and YES!- Let me know more details about writing a poem.....  So tragic, such great losses.... we feel it already, we just need to do more..... what a wonderful, special person you must be... to ponder giving your life for a child..... being a mother, this is such a strong statement.... so heartfelt!...   Keep up your wonderful work!

tori, this is excellent writing.  Your passion for the killing to stop is expressed so well.  Hope this gets more responses. It's sad that something like this with such important significance gets little response.
Tells you something about priorities I think.
