doormat

always there,
with  welcome for all
taken for granted
people trod over it constantly

with disregard for it's fibers
they wipe their feet
and wear it down
till it is tattered and torn

discarded in a heap
all welcomes forgotten
replaced anew
is it ever missed?

hahaha, darling subject -- from the eyes
of a doormat.  You bet they are missed.
My neighbors dogs are for ever stealing
my poor doormats. -- Now I have engraved
"welcome" on the door and hope those
darn dogs can't read!
