FOR A FRIEND

The wind sings soft of yesterdays,
A mountain of memories come and gone.
The path from out wild teenaged ways,
An image in mind ever drawn.

Sometimes staring Death in the face,
Many a year we rode the rails.
Delivered, if but by God's grace,
Fate has caught us, thus Time prevails.

We've both seen marriage come and go,
Both worked our fingers to the bone.
Shared many dreams, albeit though,
Yours outspoken, while mine alone.

From reckless youth to fatherhood,
Change, so aptly, has played her part.
But there again, with you I've stood,
Through joy, through pain, ‘er true in heart.

Many places the wind takes me,
So many faces lost along Life's climb.
Tomorrow holds but one certainty,
True friendship ne'er succumbs to Time.

We felt it from the very start,
A bond stronger than any other.
Always in mind, always in heart,
More than a friend, you are my brother.

Michael Anderson

Michael,
Nice tribute to your brother.  You are lucky to share such a close bond.  Great poem!!

A beautiful tribute, my friend.

It's something rare to cherish when one feels that bond. This is beautiful, Michael!

This is good Michael. Was this what you may have mentioned. I sent a few ideas hope you can use, I've never been able to keep the tears from my eyes to write these kinds of things. Maybe it's just to soon. All my best and God bless.

Has anyone ever told you that you make a damn good friend?

Yes I have!

Mike, you're a miracle among wonders, a prince among men... a true and trusting, loyal friend. Anyone who gains that from you is surely blessed, (or maybe cursed, because then they have to listen to you whining all the time about how they always get the good looking women...but I digress...)

Love ya bro!

Oh yeah, and great poem! ROFL

Thank you all for the replies. Actaully - this was not for my "real" brother - just a friend who I have loved like a brother.

PdV, Indeed, that's where true friendship is weighed - when you see who's standing by you in times of trouble.

Denise, Rare, indeed.  I do cherish it.

Dale, thank you.  I will be in touch with you email.

Christopher, Christopher, Christopher... **shaking head**  What would I ever do with you.  You indeed are my truest friend... even if I can't take you anywhere because all the women think you're underage.     Thank you.

Michael
