I think you think that we're alike.
But here's how it seems to me.
We have less in common
Than a melon and a pea.

I am sweet and full of juice.
You're wrinkled up and dry.
Who's undistinguished from the crowd?
Clearly that's you, not I.

I am lush and overflowing
With a nectar exquisite.
You're a petty little shell
With some pulpy stuff in it.

I keep company with mangoes,
Berries, grapes and tangerines.
You consort with the likes
Of carrots, beets and beans.

Technically we may both hang
From the selfsame family tree,
But being thus related is
Well, an embarrassment to me.

I enjoyed this. I did get two meanings out of it. Was that the idea?

Another weighty matter addressed so astutely by the " Dom" . I too have missed your epicurean eloquence .
