I never did it as a kid
Though I often wished I could
Try as I might I had to be
The child that was too good

Stories heard ‘bout those times
I’d envy my other friends
But who would’ve thought that I
Would take so long to make amends

I tried it today and let me say
It’s wonderful, such a treat
Today I feel so happy at last
My life is now complete!

I slept in, what a feeling
To roll over and stay asleep
Schlepped around in old jeans
Dog’s trailing me like sheep

I sat right here the whole time
And tho my butt is sore
I only left for half an hour
To run to the grocery store.

Why is it that this pleasure
Is not enjoyed by many more
Mental health demands it
What else are sick days for?

Don’t say a word to my boss
(I’ll promise you a cookie!)
‘Cause today, PdV stayed home
Bad girl! She was playing hooky!

they say confession is good for the soul...
so I know you feel better...I'm sure you feel whole.
Just dont feel guilty...you've committed no crime,
theres nothing wrong with taking some personal time.
We all have done this at least a time or two...
and we sure dont think any less of you.
I like to lounge around in my pjs and try to write,
and sleeping in is great...
when you stayed up posting in passions all night.
So dont feel like you've been bad...you'll be just fine...
UNLESS your boss read this post...
then you'll be working OVERTIME!!

Poet deVine - what a great poem!  As I read it, I could just hear Lou Costello saying "I'm a baaaaad boy!"  Thanks for the lift to my day, LOL!

PoetdeVine~
How much this need to recoup
was 'me' this morning ...
but ... I gave in to reliability !

This may have been the incentive
I need to take a 'personal' day off !
I like those, cause they aren't
allowed to ask questions at work
when we put in for them.

Glad you enjoyed your 'goof-off' time.

You do make me laugh sometimes!  Hey, I was raised to be a very, very good little girl too.  (They always stuck me between all the bad boys in school, so they would be good.  And that did a terrible thing to me - I grew a deep fondness and admiration for all those bad boys who were so much braver than I - and I always fell for the bad ones.  Oh, man.  Good thing I got the best of them for my own!  I could have gotten a lemon by mistake!)  And I say - days like the one you just had are very, very good for a person!  It's high time you tried it!  (Do it again sometime.)

I wouldn't give up those days to save
my soul.  Glad you enjoyed.

I could copy my mom's signature with the
best of them.  "Please excuse netswan today,
she has a horrid headache. I think it is
her eyes from doing too much homework.
Tomorrow we will see if she is better,
but I can't promise."

I won't tell your boss -- but he doth

not?

I'm guilty of finding away around this, I just don't work when I am suppost to be, but then again look at my mental health, it doesn't say much for goofing around, great funny poem, and what kind of cookies are you offering ?
