Finesse

The lion was the king of all
The world of wild animal
One day he made a clever plan
To get a kitten in his hand

Proposing friendship to the cat
Among his tales of this and that
He said let’s you and I be friends
We’ll both shake hands and make amends

Come over near my lion’s lair
We’ll do some tricks of double dare
Performing fetes of every kind
You show me yours, I’ll show you mine

The cat was taken back, indeed
But then reluctantly agreed
He thought the lion rather slick
To want to learn his every trick

The feathered birds and wild beast
Were also summoned to the feast
So hard it was to comprehend
That cat, a lion would befriend

They gathered curiously to view
But kept their distance from the two
The lion said, let me begin
And started showing off to him

He bound with power from his hips
And did impressive double flips
He ran and jumped and spun around
Then rolled and rolled across the ground

Now, my friend, it’s time for you
To show me every trick you do
The little cat performed  with flair
Some double flip-flops in the air

Spiral twists and leaps and bounds
Somersaults upon the ground
Now tell me friend, are you aware
Of any more that you can share

The cat said, no, that’s all I do
I’ve shown all of my tricks to you
With that fact openly announced
The lion on the kitten pounced

And what a tender cut of meat
He’s always had desire to eat
So thrilled he was in his delight
And anxious now to take a bite

But somehow he had lost his grip
When cat did a triple backward flip
Without a single moment’s pause
Avoiding lion’s teeth and claws

He left the lion in a daze
Empty handed and amazed
The lion said I didn’t know
That clever trick you failed to show

The cat then said I always leave
A couple aces up my sleeve
If I would show you all I do
I now would be inside of you

Leave a little of yourself
Guarded safe upon the shelf
There’s so much there inside of you
Just keep a little hid from view

Don’t expose yourself too much
Or you could be a lion’s lunch

This was a splendid little ditty, and what a fabulous moral it has!  Superb as always, you are!

Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders
And it makes me want to touch you there.
And the light in your eyes makes me feel
Like there's something much better out there
Something kind...
And I know someday I might be looking around
Trying to find some purpose
Well purpose it can't be that hard to find
As long as I've got the wind...
The wind and your love to carry me.

Cool... I love fables!  I love the lesson in this one too, how so very true.  I think sharing everything and being an open book may be a down fall of my onw.. maybe I should change that. =)  Thanks for the idea.

"The storm rises up when the shadows descend
every beat of my heart every day without end
I will stand like a rock I will bend till I break
till theres no more to give if thats what it takes
I will risk everything I will fight I will bleed
I will lay down my life if thats what you need
every second I live thats the promise I make"

I have no idea who wrote this... tell me if you know. =)
