***  You can't catch a Shooting Star  ***

...He shot across the sky
a shooting star that flew so high
and there alone I stood in awe,
at all his majesty I saw...

...It was that darkened day
he took my very breath away
with just one pass across my sky
I knew with him, my wings could fly...

...I could not catch him though
and as I stood, I saw his glow
dissipate there in the night
along with all I thought was right...

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

...A shooting star's just that
a star that flies, & won't come back
you cannot catch them in the air
so stand in awe & simply stare...

...The moment's brief, it's true
but now I know my star was you -
I never really knew your name
but made a wish on you, the same...

...You still fly across my sky
and I will always wonder why
I couldn't catch you in my dreams,
Stars aren't for catching though, it seems...

What an original idea---and a another beautiful poem.  The best things to love are those we can't catch---catching changes free things.

girl this is perfection...
i love this one!!...
love the star metaphor and as always your deep emotions.
very nice poet-girl
take care, jm

Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders
And it makes me want to touch you there.
And the light in your eyes makes me feel
Like there's something much better out there
Something kind...
And I know someday I might be looking around
Trying to find some purpose
Well purpose it can't be that hard to find
As long as I've got the wind...
The wind and your love to carry me.

      stars are for catching
     though difficult it seems
but reach out and you will see
they are the keeper of your dreams

pFF, just a little something for you.
loved your poem.

This is beautiful. Perhaps we may never catch our star but I think it's worth the chase.

Stars are really beautiful, but they don't compare to the beauty of your words

Wow.  I love poems like this... here the next line flows so perfectly with the last that you can almost read it before you've seen the words.

Thanks again for the inspiration... now if I could just stop reading long enough to write a little I might be ok. =)

"The storm rises up when the shadows descend
every beat of my heart every day without end
I will stand like a rock I will bend till I break
till theres no more to give if thats what it takes
I will risk everything I will fight I will bleed
I will lay down my life if thats what you need
every second I live thats the promise I make"

I have no idea who wrote this... tell me if you know. =)

You know, perhaps one shouldn't chase stars that are so far out of reach when so many that shine so brightly fall right passed their grasping hands...  Just thought to ponder...

This is great...and yes the elusive shooting star, so many poems written for it but still remaining just out of reach...the most beautiful things in life often are.  Wonderfully written.

Martie - - Yes, when something is "caught", it's no longer "free"...good point.  There is a certain beauty to freedom.  Thank you.

Janet Marie - - LOL  at how you call me poet-girl !!

Marina - - You know ME!  LOL  I know...back to Adult...(sigh)

JmLee - - I'm trying to cling to that hope too...I'll "cling" with ya, ok?  LOL

Danny - - You almost made me cry with that one...thank you sir.

DebLynne - - LOL  You been waiting on me?  hehe  I'll type faster next time!

EagleOne - - I'm WINDED from the chase!  Argh!

IrishRose - - Thank you - I plan on reading more of your writing...what I read last night was wonderful!  Keep it coming!

Jeffrey - - You make me blush...thank you for your sincerity, it means alot.

WhiteNite - - Stop reading & start writing already!  My thumbs are tired of twiddling!!  ROFL

Lone Wolf - - Me hopes so too!  JUMPING HIGHER....!!

Michael - - Thank you for the ponder...I catch your drift.

Butterflies d.c. - - I'm gonna buy a taller ladder !!

WhtDove - - Nice thought you had there, but I can't help but laugh!  I've been bonked on the head a few times before, and that's what I see happening!

Ruth - - I do believe stars belong in the sky - if we catch them all, their glow would fade, and all that would be left is darkness up there.  Thank you girl!

Thank you to everyone...I know I seem to be running around in circles here, writing alot of "blues"...still dusting myself off & whining, as some say!  LOL  Bear with me while I regroup, ok? Soul-searching does seem sniveling at times, I guess...sorry.  I love all of you who have believed in me.  Thank you.

Shooting stars are wild things,  like the stare of the serpant or the cry of the Banshee.  Though all are mystical in their own right, though all hold a mystical allure, inevitably all seem to be a call to tragedy.

~PFF

This was lovely!! I really liked the metaphors and imagery you used. The whole poem just seemed to flow together like the shooting star you speak about. Some things aren't meant to be caught. That's what makes them mysterious and enchanting. But I know you will find your "star" someday. And you won't need to catch it....it will already be yours. Take care,

AMY
