I would like to apologize for posting so much these last few days, but I will probably not be writing as much due to family matters, and so I've been trying to get as much posted now as I can. Thanks for your understanding

A Toast to Michael J Fox

I make this toast of gratefulness - HERE”S TO MICHAEL J !!!
He looked into his soul one night and then began to pray
He knew the fate that lay before him, what remained in store
He looked around and stood his ground and truth began to pour

Michael J. confessed his illness to the listening world
A man too young for Parkinson’s , realities unfurled
He used his fame to battle shame and pure defenselessness
His spoken word was truly heard and made the difference

But even so not many know the truth of the disease
They think that taking medications puts all cares at ease
Most think that shaking is the only symptom of the days
Unaware it manifests itself in many ways

So many unknown facts abound, no one can tell you why
No one can give direction or the answers simplify
For no one knows how long, how far, until a cure is found
But all of us with Parkinson’s are glad Michael’s around

Each day you feel a little pull, that something is askew
As common little skills are slowly being robbed from you
But just when you feel helpless , in a nightmare kind of dream
There is Michael’s smiling face upon the TV screen

He’s given hope and given help, he’s made the wheels turn fast
Thanks to Michael J Fox’s deeds,  we’ll see a cure at last
It seems the ways to better days are paved by very few
Michael J, you've made my day, so here, this one's for you

Thank you Marge and Nameless for your comments. It is thought that there will be a cure for Parkinsons within 5 to 10 years. And that will mean a cure for all neurodegenerative deseases. Michael has done more to raise funds than any single person and because of his efforts the entire Parkinsons community has joined together in their efforts to find a cure. My hat's off to him!

If only "Back to the Future" really existed for both of you - and those who share your illness.... Nice work, Elizabeth

I'll toast to Michael,
And also to you,
Hell I'll toast to anything
Cuz I just love my brew.

But this one means something,
To all that need cure,
So a toast for the ill folks,
My sincerity is pure.

Nicely done Liz
As all of yours are,
Hope you're doing well

Can I stick a plug in here too. I love Michale J's work. Every one of his movies has brought a smile to my face and made me laugh many times. I was shocked and sad to here the news, I have a great uncle with this desease.
Michael has contributed to all our lives, and I'm proud to say he comes from your little brothers to the north.
He is a Canadian, and we all pray for him.

.... Great Tribute Liz.

This was wonderful Liz!  He is one of my favourite actors also.  I have always found his sense of humour to be original.  Thank God for a sense of humour, he will need it now more then ever.  They say laughter is a cure beyond medicine.

Thank you all so very much for your wonderful remarks. Yes, I have also seen Back to the Future many times. But Michael's best performance was before a Congressional commitee. He purposely avoided taking his medication so that they could witness first hand the effects of the disease, and believe me, that took a lot of courage. Again, my hat's off to him
Thanks again
Liz
