the window whistles the air
too loudly
and the radio is playing
a song I can not believe
someone paid money
to record
and the brakes on the car
next to me
are fingernails on blackboard
and the comments
said in jest by a friend
now hover hauntingly
too close to the truth
and is that me that is
thinking so loudly
trying to hear my own insanity
above the constant
peck peck pecking
of your
if if if
you you you
don't don't don't...
then you you you
should should should
leave.
and you peck
incessantly waiting for my yes,
when what you really want me to say
is no
I do
love you.
but I don't.
and your pecking is just a distraction
to cover the hole you are digging
to suck out the part of me
that changed
that no longer
cares
but cannot voice
her reason for staying...
but wait
I have to silence this window
this song
this air
this noise
these ears
these ears can take
no more
and for a second
the resounding nothing
brings relief
and yes that would suffice
it weren't for
the peck
peck
peck

Big HUSG sweetheart, sometimes the pecking can be worse than the silence of the cogs going round and round, well in my case, cause the cogs have nothing to go round..ooops....sorry, just trying to bring a smile cause you need one..

Wow, you must know the cacophony of voices in my head. This is so cool. You spoke volumes for those voices...*S*

When a poem drags me into the cacophony and I find myself wanting to scream "SHUT UP!"... I think I'd have to give that poem a WOW!... and the poet my heartfelt sympathy!

I've been there in the past too, Corazon and I'd never want to be there again. Your poem described it perfectly. Sending you some great big HUGS your way!
