-- Chasing shadows -- (4-7-99)

I thought I'd met you,
You were someone I used to know,
She was standing there before me,
But closer to your shadow.

She's been pushed away,
And I wonder if I'm to blame,
I'm sure I didn't do it,
But the damage is the same.

I found her scent behind you,
And my comfort in your stare,
But the trust that she gave me,
Was never really there.

I thought I knew love,
But not quite where to go,
There was a little of a lot,
But closer to my shadow.

I've been fooling myself,
And I didn't even know,
Only in her arms,
Did I feel like letting go.

In her I found your meaning,
Of the love you held so long,
I looked back to show you,
But now I'm all alone.

--Dave

It's probably the only poem you'll see me post for a little bit so enjoy. =)  I've had a problem getting inspired recently.  Hoping this place will help.  It looks like there are some great poets around here.

"We always said it would be good to go away, someday,
but if there's nothing there to make things change,
if it's the same to you I'll just hang."

Well now that IS a compliment.

Thanks.  I loooove Rob.  Well... you know... as much as I can without being gay and all...

I can pick up his voice and his music out of any piece.

I can't really say I see his style in my poem there but if he wanted to give it a try I'd be honored. =)  It'd deffinitely be better than my sad attempt at putting a chorus in there. =)   Later

That was a very powerful poem.  If you think long enough, I'm sure you can come up with the inspiration... anyone can!  Welcome!

Dave,
If it's inspiration you need you have certainly come to the right place.
By the way , great piece. Such emotions are never easy to express, but you have done it well.

So tenderly written is thy poets words, from thy  heart, from thy pen,

You need a muse for inspiration,
Lovely indeed thy sir knight!  < !signature-->

What a warm welcome.

You guys are great.  I guess I've found a  new pass time.

I'd take the time to thank each of you and reply to what you said but I'm pretty tired and about to go to bed..... hmm.. that almost had rythm... cool.. maybe I'm getting inspired or something. =)

I've got another poem that I'd like to share from the past.  I wasn't so sure about this one but I got brave enough to mail it to JM and she seemed to like it... apparently some of you share her taste so I guess I'll give it a try. =)  Hope you like it.

I have no idea who wrote this... tell me if you know.  =)

Dave maybe just look around for awhile and then the inspiration may come again soon.

Well... I finally have a little time off from the rushed life I'm living these pastfew days.  It would figure that as soon as I find something that I *want* to do in my spare time everyone decides to take me up on offers to help them fix this or help them paint that or whatever..... blah... anyways.  I wanted to post a thank you to everyone individually sense that seems to be the... uhhmm.. appropriate thing to do???.. well.. it seems to be what everyone else does. =)  I've been wanting to do that I just haven't had the time to.  So NEway... here's goes.

TO ALL:

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

Thank you for your compliments and warm welcomes.  Thank you also for sharing your poetry with me.  It's deffinitely and inspiration but I'm still a little blocked up over here and short on time lately.

If I don't mention your name specificly it's because this statement pretty much covers it.  =)  You've all given me a little courage to try this poetry thing again, but it's still not flowing the way it did when I wrote those two that you've seen.

I'll try to get some poems out as soon as I can... but man... it seems like everyone here is going to be let down by whatever I write now.  All you've seen so far is the best of what's left of the poems I've written in the past.  I've been out of practice for so long and those two poems are probably the best out of a hundred other's that... well... "bit the big one" so to speak. =)

I guess what I'm saying is, I might have set everyone's expectations a little out of my grasp.  But I'll try... promise.

For those of you who haven't read it there is a second poem of mine up here called "Shattering like glass"... in my opinion it's not as good but it's better than anything I've been able to muster up in the past few days.

Femme:

Yeah, I've grown a little fond of JM myself from the little I know of her. =)  And thank you, I like your name too... not sure about it's meaning but it sounds really cool. =)

Tracie:

Yeah, I've been inspired by a few here... actually a lot.  But only one really got me into a groove.  Unfortunately I read it at work and couldn't get it out onto paper before I was out of the mood.  I also tend to start writing down things similar to other peoples poems (snicker.. OPP) when I get inspired by them so it doesn't always work very well.

Romantic Heart:

Thanks, I've had that signature in a file on my computer forever and I don't know how it got there!!!!  I may have even written it myself but I find it hard to believe that I could write that and not remember it. ;-)  It's very much like me actually... when I fall for someone I'll justify everything they do no matter how much it hurts, I'll let them walk all over me until there's no hope left in me for us.   Blah blah blah.. anyways.. I think it's a good reflection of me.. but that's just my opinion... I'm sure my ex's opinions are very different. =)  A muse for inspiration?  Very possibly so... my moments of greatest inspiration are when I'm in love.... and as the last two poem show, another burst of inspiration when that love comes to an end.

Jan:

How can I thank you for showing me this place?  It's wonderful, and I'm enjoying you being right too. =)  I'll try to write a poem for you, but it'll be hard to find one that is worthy of your name. =)
