Samurai

With one swift blow to my head the killer departs so sure I'm dead.
As this samurai walks away these are the words I hear him say.
"All life ends where samurai begins..asian hit man brings death with him."
As you guessed I was not dead twas not a fatal blow cast upon my head.
So as samurai vanished from my sight a single thought now kept me alive.
"Surely I will not die til once more I reach my sweethearts side."
Yes my head was throbing and my strength was slowly ebbing away.
Yet this deadly blow could never erase the pleasure of my sweethearts face.
The tender kisses of two that cared and the lovers embrace we passionately shared.

Oh, I had known my days were few its totally true.
My fate was sealed I had no choice but to die at the hand of this samurai.
You see, he loved the same sweet princess that had caught my eye.
And still I wonder why she gave all of her love to me and spurned the love of this samurai.
For at one time she did truly love this warrior man but she grew to hate the duties he performed.
It was his duties as an asian hit man that had drew her scorn.
To her samurai was honest and pure the other was shameful and she must leave him of that she was sure.
He did not take this lesson well..his honor was forsaken and his countenance fell.
Sooner not later his revenge would be applied to regain his honor two now must die.
His plan placed her the first in line to go..he wasted no time he struck the fatal blow.
And then he would hesitate..her lovers fate would have to wait.
The waiting was not to strike fear...it was only to give me time to shed my tears.

We buried her on a monday morn..my heart was broken and torn...samurai gave me one week to mourn.
Then I too would surely die at the hands of this vengeful samurai.
It was I who visited her grave each day to mourn and cry and not the love spurned samurai.
And on that seventh day I awoke from my bed and began to pray.
"Lord before I die just let one tear fall from the eye of this vengeful samurai."
As I had done each day before I quickly dressed and walked out my door.
Heading for the graveyard where my sweetheart lay to be with her to mourn and pray.
On this short and lonely drive I remember how me and my sweetheart shared our lives.
I reflected on how much I cared and accepted my fate that it was death we'd soon share.

I enter the graveyard gate on that day I now yearned to meet my fate.
A dozen red roses in my hand...nothing will stop me and my plan.
I hoped to once more place these beautiful roses on her grave well before the last fatal blow was made.
Stepping from my car I head towards my sweethearts final resting place.
The samurai stops me just ten steps from her grave that day and applies the fatal blow to keep me away.
Oh yes I felt the hit mans blow twas swift and hard but still he had perfect control.
Just as fast he went away and now my death was only breathes away.
"Surely I will not die til once more I reach my sweethearts side."
Somehow the roses stayed clutched in my hand..I must crawl to her..I can no longer stand.
My life passes before my eyes..my strength is going away..my heart grows weak..I must pray!!
Somehow I reach my baby sweet..my plan is now complete.
Me and the roses now lie on her grave..this will be my final resting place.
And as I breathe my last breath before I die in the distance I hear a sobbing cry.
It twas the last lonely sigh of a now heartbroken samurai.
Samurai, samurai this much is true..all these deaths will never return her love to you.
And now this lonely samurai knows the pain to lose his hearts true place.
Only hari kari will now make things right..he quickly ends his broken shattered life.
He willingly takes his life to avoid his disgrace..
he knew he could never live without his lovers grace.
This broken lonely samurai now falls and dies ten steps away from where me and his sweetheart lie.

And in the bright and morning sun the groundskeeper
now views my fate..it was he that knew I would not be late.
For I had visited her grave at this time everyday
leaving fresh roses with each stay.
He was aware how much I care..he knew death was the fate I soon would share.
And now he would keep his promise he had made to bury me in the very spot where I now lay.
My wish I had given to him just one day before
to share my sweethearts grave for evermore.
Yes the samurai did truly cry..and now I wonder where your sympathy lies...with her and I or the love spurned samurai.

What a tale, James! Very interesting, to be sure. Sympathies? Hmmm...it's a sad tale through and through, and I would have to sympathize with each character, each for different reasons. As for you, what an imagination you have!

Claire...
You have made my dream come true lovely Meadowmuse.  Hey...even though I had to die I felt bad for the lonesome Samurai.  No one should have to be alone.  Thank you for your special comments.   James

Has a hint of that Romeo and Juliet scent!     I liked it much, although I'm not sure WHO to feel sorry for!  I feel sorry for all three of them!  Triangles are dangerous indeed...Very romantic imagination you have sir...This little story of yours touched me, although so sad.  Thanks for sharing!
