The Jewel of Tangled Nasturtium

A tangled nasturtium
climbs the fence
and splays across the drive,
it smells like strength,
so individual and sure,
it takes over
climbing across the rose bush
and laying padded leaf gently
on each thorn
sure and unafraid.

It climbs the trunk
of the liquid amber
reaching its orange blossom
to seek a view
of all this opening spring.

Last night in magenta sky
I peaked inside the green open wings
to a jewel of perfect sky reflection,
minute and sparkling through sun-filled day
placed just so in the center
by a hand more gentle
then this small vision can encompass
with a smile.

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.
(ee cummings)

An absolutely wonderful poem here my friend. Me thinks you have been outside working in the garden today, and have brought inside a touch of it's beauty to share with us.

Martie, this is a wonderful poem.  Your words just made the image of that Nasturtium climb right up on top of my computer screen.
Gosh, i'm glad spring is here!!!
Nice writing, as always.

This is a lovely poem! You're such a flower girl!  I well remember wild masses of color in those tangled nasturtiums of my childhood, though I haven't seen any in years.  Thank you for bringing back their sunshine for me on this sunny morning!  You paint such detailed pictures, appealing to every sense; oh, I love the way you do that!

martie this is so perfect..I love the Nasturtium
its one of my fav flowers and I knew you would paint it so gracefully as only you can
lovley...
(did you know the dwarf and nonthorned varieties are edible...great in salad) TRUST ME...I'm a landscaper... LOL
take care jm

The stars shine so bright, now's the time
I close my eyes - soft wind touch my face,
Cool sand upon the place where I once kissed you
And held you close.
Now I will reach for the stars...
Because Oh my love, that's where you are...
Though the storms of black night rage on
I still see your face
I still feel your lips on mine
And though my heart feels all alone without you
I still hear you sing to me
I still hear your voice on the sea...

Martie~
How lovely are your glimpses into nature.

'sparkling through sun-filled day
placed just so in the center
by a hand more gentle
then this small vision can encompass
with a smile.'

You pick the flowers of delight.

Darn tangled Nasturtium their everywhere. I don't know who's worse the Mourning Glories, Black Berries or Nasturtium.

The ending of this verse, "placed just so....." is absolutely magnificent. A superb way to end this beautiful piece. What a delight to read.

Mike, you're right, I was working in the garden, thanks for blooming in my friendship garden.

Danny--Watch out, first the computer screen, then the house.

Corrine--Get out their girl and start smelling, and thanks for the reply.

James--Yes, gardens are soothing.

Rosemary--I wish you could come and visit me but glad I brought back such a sweet memory.

jm--Yes, I put them in salads all the time, or decorate the plate...how wonderful to be a landscaper--very hard work though.

Marge--Thanks for the delightful picture.

lucky--I'll tell you those morning glories are beautiful when in bloom and buzzing with bees, but they are so hard to get rid of.  Nasturtiums just pull right up.

Liz--So glad you liked it, thanks my friend.

deer--so glad to have introduced you to one of my favorites, and with Marge's help you even have a picture.
