Du bist mein, inch bin dein:
Dess' sollst du gewiss sein,
Du bist beschlossen
In meinenm Herzen;
Verloren ist das Schluesselein:
Du musst imer drinne sein.

(Does anyone know German?  My email German (love?)friend sent me this.  He said it is an old German poem from an unknown poet. I would truly appreciate a translation. Thank you.)

Been a very long time since I was in high school...
first line is clearly
You are mine, I am yours
hopefully someone who speaks German can do the rest but,  some of what I can remember..
You should be certain
You are decided
In mine heart is lost foverever
you must be more
sorry couldnt do better...

Thank you Mike.  It sounds like love, does it not, long-distance culture-different star-crossed love?  Maybe someone will translate the missing lines.  Thank you again Mike.  I appreciate this.

PP~,
For translations, visit this link on my Web page. It may not get ALL the words right, but at least it's a start. Here's the link, copy what you want to have translated, scroll down to the translation link, and paste it from German to English. www.sellinghomes1-2-3.com/cool_links.html
(Oh, and you can translate one of your poems to German, too.)
best regards,

Thank you bboog, That is an interesting site, but I'm afraid words were lost.  So I am hoping there is a German-speaking poet out there who will help me get bit closer.  Thank you though.  I appreciate your reply.

I am German by birth and hope that my translation will do this poem justice. And I hope you like it too. Good luck

Du bist mein, inch bin dein:
Dess' sollst du gewiss sein,
Du bist beschlossen
In meinenm Herzen;
Verloren ist das Schluesselein:
Du musst imer drinne sein.

Your are mine and I am yours
You can be sure of it (or : you should know this)
You are inside
Within my heart
The key to my heart I lost
So, you are inside forever

Well done Helmut.

Helmut, I just logged on and read your translation.  I am ever so grateful.  I am learning German, but it is difficult for me. So I appreciate this ever so much.  Thank You!

Gute Nacht (good night)
Ladyhawk

 THE SONG OF LADYHAWK

Hawk says diamonds danced on air
Hawk says creator above put them there
Hawk says Redtail is now my name and
from Wakiyan is where I came

From Thunderbeings, from the rock and
the tree, he gave me these wings and
then set me free

Through eyes of split gold shining so bright
And what I see now? No joy just fright
Shoot at it now, in the tree over there,
is song I hear most when not in the air

And when my heart breaks and I fly no more
I return to Creator and knock on his door
Creator says Hawk come to me fore you
were my best that's why I made you soar

You tried to show them but they couldn't see
fore they saw the diamonds instead of thee
Now you go and tell them what I said to say
their turn will come just as yours has this day

And when they come stand and look me in the eye
I will tell them the whens and the whys
that it wasn't Hawk race that I choose let die.
It was the human that I chose let go

A selfish race that could never say no
Starving and hungry they let their own grow
No Sacred heart has been brought forth to thee
I gave them everything yet they turned
from me

Diamonds, gold, others, shine so bright
but I am Creator I bring you the light
Remember just once these words you might save
Spirit not diamonds you take to your grave
