The Nightmare of Morning

I awoke of a sudden
into morning's moist light
and arose from a dreamstate
of most furious fright.
Quickly lowering myself
'pon the cold, bitter boards,
my memory released
dull dissension of chords.
Through my chilled rooms I stumbled,
full commencing to weep.
Sorrow's nightmare revealed,
bare and blinded with sleep,
as a black apparition
galloped thrice through the square
before darkening's bloom
into morning's despair.
Waiting patient and still,
but with quickening breath,
to give chase for the pleasure
of assisting my death.
Though the night was outrunning
nigh the morning's advance,
'twas mere haunting of daybreak
bidding, doleful, this dance.

Dear LadyClaire

You've described it perfectly, Claire.

'twas mere haunting of daybreak
bidding, doleful, this dance.'

I wish I had your talent of expression. Every word chosen is so full of meaning and feeling. Well done.

You've a rare talent for making
every word count ... quite the
poet's poet you are.

Wonderful expressions, again,
in this touch of you.

Wonderful as always Claire...

'twas mere haunting of daybreak
bidding, doleful, this dance.

The dance of dreams. . . you have described it well my friend. .  .

Speech-less wouldn't be adequate
and also quite absurd
This one had me mesmerized
