How Loud this Beating

How loud this beating
through hazy breath
while I listen
glued to his chest as songs
leak out and drain into my ear
and this pretty peach sheet
so comfortable and reassuring
says this is just a day
but I can hear dying
and its sound slices through me
a foreign invasion named dread
for it is cleaving
and gaining strength from devouring
treading through the hope light
that blazed just a moment ago
when he told me that love
in all its strength and infinite
foreverness is and will be in this heart
that quickens trying to outrun time
and I think that it is this sweet warmth
that I want of love not some vapor
that clings to my dreams
and leaves me longing

and he just smiles
this tenderness that reaches
as I soak his shirt
with silent tears.

I find myself looking forward to your daily creation Martie.  I have yet to be disappointed; another special glimpse you have allowed us into your being.  Wonderfully written as always.

Martie~
It can't be easy dear friend.
I know your friend is glad to share
your tears as well as having shared
your love.
You're remarkable.

Mike, you know I feel the same about your poetry...I look for you each day...but you arn't as consistant as I am.

Thank you Denise for tender sees tender.

Marge--Yes, so true this sharing of joy and sorrow.  You are remarkable.

Hearts, full of sadness, full of love, weep together. With these words, you've captured my heart's song, Martie, and I thank you.

Sending warm hugs and understanding...

Once again you wrench my heart of tears - just when I thought I'd none left - remind me I've something I must tell you
