And there she stands
In stone defiance
To my answer
Jaw set firm
Chin down
The dark eyes of rage
Piercing out from beneath brooding bangs
Body rigid
Arms straight
Each fist clenched too white
Wanting to strike the anvil of anger
A foot stomps
A puff of fury
She starts to tremble
As madness seeks expression
Standing at the brink
Out sticks a tongue
A face is made
And laughter explodes
My answer still stands
But she's to busy
Giggling from tickling
To care about
What she can't have
This is better

Andrew,
Thank you for giving me a reason to smile today.  Brings back fond memories.  This is an excellent piece.

This is WONDERFUL. Full of love and life and fun. I was giggling by the end of the poem. How marvelous that you could put this into words.
Bravo, on the poetry and on fatherhood

Oh man if this isn't my 13 year old and I to a T!!!  Great poem, Andrew.  Speaks volumes about never forgetting to love your child even when bumping heads...LOL  Wonderful message.

-Andrew...

You sound like a wonderul father...quite similar to mine! This was lighthearted and fun, but also held a very lovely message. I think you have this fatherhood thing down pretty well. Thanks for sharing this! Made me smile.

Andrew~

Oh my !
I just had to send this to my daughter.
Reminded me of the day we were
eyeball to eyeball and I suddenly
realized she was taller than me ...
I immediately took charge and said
'Sit Down !' ... and we both started
laughing with what we'd discovered.

What joyous moments are shared
in those moments of 'parenthood'.
Thank you for this adorable reminisce.

Andrew, I have had the privilege of reading several of your poems that have dealt with your family and your family life and I must say they, and you, are truly blessed to have each other. Wonderful writing, sir.

Thanks one and all for your kind words... I'd also like to say thanks to my own parents who are wonderful people.  They raised me to be the father I am today.  I'm glad I was able to bring smiles to some and fond memories to others... I couldn't ask for more.

Peace to you all.

Applauding this piece sir!  LOL  I find myself getting so frustrated at times...it won't be long, and my 5 yr. old son will be taller than me!  Argh!  This gave me reason to laugh, and learn from your doings.  It's hard sometimes - to remember to "love" in the toughest of times.  Thank you.
