Purgatorial Incarceration

My Friend

my friend,
    you see-
   I must release,
              release the love,
          which is no more
                         no more
                           the pain
                          of letting go
                              letting go
                                the hate which
                                     binds us
                                     binds us now
                                        where once we,
                                                            we,
                                                      were held tight
                                                               held tight
                                                             in the embrace
                                                                   of love
                                                                      and friendship,
                                                                             friendship...
                                                                                 my friend,
                                                                                     you see-
                                                                                   I must release,
                                                                                           you.

Um. Sweetie, I know I pulled an April Fools joke on you, I hope this isn't about me! It's wonderful by the way!

Christopher**
The depth that you write with is wondrous.  The pain of letting go often surmounts the pain of hanging on.  You captured that well.   Your writing is a gift of which I am a blessed recipient...Thank you.  **Angel Wing Hugs** for they ask nothing in return.

Christopher~
Sometimes you astonish me with
your work ... this is one of those times.
The feelings are powerful and the format
is so appealing.
Hugs to you.

So feathery and gentle...also very sad.  Truly lovely work, Chris.

This gave me a feeling of "holding my breath" while I read it - it's like it was spoken with someone's last breath, you know?  When one decides to let go, it's usually such an emotional event, that those last words are almost whispered through tears...this portrayed that beautifully.  I see you writing this with your head bowed in exhaustion from it all.  Hang in there...keep purging.

-chris

i am honored, for this is the first piece of you work i have read. this was really powerful and captured so many emotions. letting go of a friend is hard enough. but letting go of a friend and love at the same time is even harder. however, you seem to possess quite a deal of strength in your character. sometimes the only thing left to do is to let someone go. and in return you may be suprised at what occurs because of that. take care.

Perhaps I should have been listening to Motley Crue's "You're all I need" when I read this.  Release can mean many things you know....LOL  Just kidding bud, there is a time for all things... release being one of them.  Far better than clinging to a bitterness that once tasted oh so sweet.  You done good on this one...  as usual, our emotions seem to run parallel.

I don't think I'll comment on the emotional content of this one, my friend, as I feel that all that needed to be said has been said in previous replies.  I will say, however, that this was very well structured for the effect that (I think) you intended -- linking the lines with common words worked very well here.

Hugs anyway.

Into something rich and strange...

Your work is a pleasure to behold, you capture the feeling so very well. So very difficult and painful to let go sometimes.

Wow Chris. I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. Heavy, deep, awe inspiring.
BAM! Excellent.
