Butterflies and turtle doves,
...frolic in the sun,
As puppy dogs and unicorns,
...through green meadows run,
Little boys and little girls,
...playing hide and seek,
With elephants and platypus,
...careful! do not peek!
Lancelot and Guenevere,
...ride on horse snow white,
Seeking out their Camelot,
...beneath moon's golden light,
"All Aboard," conductor yells,
...ride on our train with us,
We're never late, because time flies,
...atop of Pegasus,
Up above a purple kite,
...dances on the wind,
As up ahead a leprechaun,
...jigs around the bend,
The engine's wheels go clickety-clack,
...upon the licorice track,
As we head to land of Dream,
...we're never coming back.

"This train is bound for Glory, this train..."

Sorry, Woody's words just popped into my mind...it was still open wide from reading this lovely poem of yours, Mike.

Whimsy, innocence, imagery, light...
all the glories of a train taking flight
to far away lands, to magical tales,
endless delight, sailing over the rails.

...may I come too?

mike-

hope i'm not too late for this train...really liked the imagery of this one. i have always had an interest for the magical and unknown such as leprichauns and unicorns. this poem was like a dream yet very much real. thanks so much for sharing!

Thank ya all kindly. Nothing wrong with a little make believe every once in a while...
we might all be a little better off if we visited our dreams more often....
