Between a laugh and a tear...

The Secret

They talk with him, and know him well
Yes deep inside, is where he dwells
Do they really know this kind sweet man
Or are they just misguided fans

He has a secret this one they know
A secret kept from long ago
A different time, way back then
A different time, not yet a man

A secret kept from light of day
Kept well hidden, locked deep away
But not so deep as to be forgotten
The nightmares stay, they happen often

Day by day, the guilt and pain
They stay with him, he bears the blame
Not yet punished for such a deed
It eats at him each time he breathes

That youth now is long since gone
Grown and matured, but he sings no song
Where to now?  Where will he go?
To be sure, I doubt he knows

He'll wander 'round that's for sure
Until one day he can accept the cure
For this we know, there is one
To bear his soul in the light of the sun

He seeks not punishment or absolution
Not forgiveness, just resolution
I do not know what he may find
I truly hope its peace of mind

eagle, this is excellent...
oh yes, those ghosts, those demons, those shadows, we know them well...if nothing else...they make for inspiration. very good work with this piece
take care, jm

she said I dont know if I've ever been good enough,
and I'm a little bit rusty, and I feel like my head is caving in.
...and I dont know if I've ever been really loved by a hand thats touched me...
and I feel like somethings gonna give...
and I'm a little bit angry.

Eagle One, I find this quite an intriguing poem, one that speaks and questions on several levels and touches me in a very personal way. Thank you for sharing this.

EagleOne~

Your phrases catch a moment of reflection of another's soul.
I would wish for him the resolution he seeks.
Wonderfully done.

I have a secret I can't keep
Because it's burning way down deep
This man named Eagle I have found
He's an angel on the ground

You write with style, grace and with such feeling.  Amazed by your talent and ecstatic to be here to receive the opportunity to read what you write from the heart. This is beautiful.
